LOCAL FARMER LOSES This is Laura's barn as it looked in April 2008. Photo: Bobby G. The barn on Jan. 18, 2009 Photo: Bobby G. Jan. 15, 2010 - Wisconsin Rapids, WI Laura Nolan, who was part of BioDiverseCity during 2008, lost her barn to an unexplained fire this week. She and her daughters were in Wisconsin Rapids when it broke out, so were unable to get a call in for fire responders in time to prevent the complete loss. It is possible that old electrical connections may have caused the fire, but no one has been able to determine the cause yet. Sadly, Laura and her daughters lost the goats they had been milking and hoping to build into a herd. Also lost were two pigs, and a large number of Muscovy ducks, whose mellow dispositions had been one of the most pleasant features of life on the farm. A

The chicken coop was in this part of the barn. The fire was 5 nights ago
Along with the loss of the structure comes the loss of a shelter for her daughter's horses and a couple of cows, along with shelter for any replacement animals for the lost ones. This shelter is going to be costly to replace, as are the animals. If you wish to help Laura out of this difficult time, please send any donations you can straight to her by mail: Laura Nolan 5794 County Highway HH Wisconsin Rapids WI 54495 Thanks BioDiverseCity, LLC
